The graduate program in Food Science provides advanced training in research, innovation, and problem-solving to address current challenges in the food industry. Graduate students work closely with faculty and industry partners on projects involving food safety, microbiology, processing, sensory science, and product development—preparing them for leadership roles in academia, government, and industry.

Food Science Concentrations

Food science concentrations are being included in as an option for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Horticulture, Poultry Science, and Animal and Dairy Science majors. Courses include but are not limited to Food Microbiology, Food Law, and Food Chemistry among many other core classes in food science. Opening up these concentrations to various majors allows for exposure to the work in the Hub and a broader, interdisciplinary approach to food science.

Food Science

A Food Scientist solves problems by applying science to food (biology, chemistry, engineering, mathematics, biochemistry, physics, etc.) to ensure that the food products that reach consumers are both safe and meet quality standards.
